Group Captain at Indian Air Force ‘Abhinandan Varthaman’ who downed a Pak Jet received Vir Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind.
In November earlier, Abhinandan Varthaman was promoted to the rank of Captain at the Indian Air Force Group.
Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman at Indian Air Force (IAF) downed a Pak jet during the aerial combat which was held in February 2019 and was continued for three days, dated 22 November, Monday. In an investiture ceremony, he was recently awarded the Vir Chakra by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
President Ram Nath Kovind presents Vir Chakra to the Wing Commander of that time, and now he is designated as the Group Captain at IAF. He showed conspicuous courage and demonstrated gallantry in the enemy’s face while disregarding personal security and safety, he also displayed an exceptional sense of duty.
In November earlier, Abhinandan Varthaman had been designated to the rank of the Group Captain in IAF.
In the war, he was captured by the Army of Pakistani on the day 27 February 2019. It was held when in a dogfight, his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down by Pakistani jets. Before the jet was hit, he was downed by a Pakistani fighter F-16.
Abhinandan Varthaman was able to exit from there safely, but the Pakistani Army was taken him into custody. It was later announced by the Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan.
The whole of India demanded his safe and unconditional return. Days later, the Pakistani Army has been forced to release him safely, the US also intervened in this matter.
