China Has the Second Biggest Dam in the World

The Chinese Government formally became the first two producing units of Baihetan Dam. It became the second-biggest hydroelectric dam in the world that is being used to generate energy. Baihetan Dam is located on the Jinsha River, southwest China.

The US President and UK Prime Minister signed on to a new version of the Atlantic Charter which is 80 years older. Atlantic Charter is all about a joint declaration by Franklin D. Roosevelt (US President) and Winston Churchill (British Prime Minister) in Newfoundland during World War II, on August 14, 1941. 

EU Urged to Reconsider GSP+ Status

The parliament of Europe passed a resolution to urge the European Union Commission to consider the temporary abolishment of the status of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+) of Sri Lanka. It is all about the set of European Union rules which allows exporters of developing countries to pay lower on their exports to the EU.

First Mask-Free Country of the World – Israel

Israel is going to emerge as the first mask-free country in the world. The rule of having masks at the closed or nearby locations will be ended from June 15, 2021, announced by the Health Minister of Israel, Yuli Edelstein. Rule to apply masks outside, already abolished in the country. 

UN Security Council Elections

The UN SC elected non-permanent participants from Albania, Gabon, Brazil, Ghana, and UAE for the term 2022-23. These five countries, who were elected unopposed, are going to start their period from 1 January 2022. Election for non-permanent Security Council’s individuals was held via secret ballots.

 Indo-Thai CORPAT

Indian Navy and Royal Thai Navy conducted the 31st edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT), which was from June 9 to 11, 2021. Since 2005, Thailand and India have conducted the CORPAT, along with IMBL (International Maritime Boundary Line).
